Fall Fun for Teens

Dungeons & Dragons-Pathfinders
Mondays, 3:00 – 5:15 pm
Join other teens to play this popular role playing game. This is a great team building activity.

Warhammer 40K and Flames of War
Tuesdays, 2:30 – 5:00 pm
Join other teens in playing popular Games Workshop games, Warmachine/Hordes and our new WWII miniature game, Flames of War.

Teen Book and Film Club
Monday, Sept. 2
Registration begins Sept. 2 – Oct. 11 for the Teen Book and Film Club.  We will be reading Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones.  Copies of the book will be available to pick up on Sept. 15.  The first 10 people who register will be provided a book for check-out.  Otherwise participants will need their own book.  First teen to register gets to keep their copy of the book.  On Monday, Oct. 13 at 6:00 pm, we will watch the film and discuss the book. Pizza and pop will be provided.  For teens, grades 7-12.

Banned Book Week
September 21-21
Celebrate Banned Book Week between Sept. 21-28.  Read a banned book and finish an activity sheet.  Then, beginning Sept. 29, bring in your completed activity sheet to earn a free book.  For all ages.

Teen Writing Room
Tuesday, Sept. 23
7:00-8:30 pm
The “How and Why of Annotating” will be a hands-on explanation of a study skill which will help to improve comprehension of reading material for testing and writing assignments.  The last part of the session will involve making a bookmark.

Teen Activity - Bean Bag Chair
Thursday, Sept. 25
3:00-5:00 pm
Moms and Teens: We will be making two big bean bag chairs for the Teen Room.  We need to cut out the shapes from the fabric and sew them together.  This is a great opportunity to learn how to cut patterns and observe sewing on a machine.  This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. 

Bookface  Photo Contest
Some people picture themselves as a character in their favorite book. The BookFace Challenge literally gives you that chance. Become the cover of a book for our challenge.  Beginning Sept. 5, entries can be created in or out of the library. All submissions are due Monday, Oct. 27 at 9:00 pm. A reception will be held Monday, Nov.3, 7:00-8:00 pm. Refreshments will be served and attendees will vote on entries for the winners.

 

Teen Battle of the Books Meeting

Tuesday, March 4

Alexa, the Teen Librarian will host an opportunity to get together. Teams participating in the Teen Battle of the Books can share ideas, enjoy refreshments and ask questions.

“Write, wrote, written” Join our Teen Writing Room. We’ll explore different kinds of writing based on member choices, from poems and essays to drama and humor and beyond. We’ll build expression skills and develop ideas. We’ll also create our writing books.

 

Teen Tech Week

We have DIY projects with smart phone projectors, smart phone gloves and floppy disk ships and notebooks.

See a 3D Printer demonstration with Bernie Solo.

Teen Hunger Games/Catching Fire Lock-in

Friday, March 14

5:00-11:00 pm

Bring a friend and watch the movies from the popular series, “Hunger Games.”  This event is for grades 7-12 and a permission slip must be turned in. 

 

Teen Video Game Party

Play Wii and Xbox 360. Bring your controllers and any games rated "all ages" or "Teen."
