Fall Fun for Teens

Dungeons & Dragons-Pathfinders
Mondays, 3:00 – 5:15 pm
Join other teens to play this popular role playing game. This is a great team building activity.

Warhammer 40K and Flames of War
Tuesdays, 2:30 – 5:00 pm
Join other teens in playing popular Games Workshop games, Warmachine/Hordes and our new WWII miniature game, Flames of War.

BookFace  Photo Challenge Submissions
Due: Monday, Oct. 27 by 9:00 pm
Some people picture themselves as a character in their favorite book. The BookFace Challenge literally gives you that chance. Become the cover of a book for our challenge.  Beginning Sept. 5, entries can be created in or out of the library. All submissions are due Monday, Oct. 27 at 9:00 pm. A reception will be held Monday, Nov.3, 7:00-8:00 pm. Refreshments will be served and attendees will vote on entries for the winners.

Teen Book and Film Club
Monday, Oct. 13
6:00-9:00 pm
Registration begins Sept. 2 – Oct. 11 for the Teen Book and Film Club.  We will be reading Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones.  Copies of the book will be available to pick up on Sept. 15.  The first 10 people who register will be provided a book for check-out.  Otherwise participants will need their own book.  First teen to register gets to keep their copy of the book.

On Monday, Oct. 13 at 6:00 pm, we will watch the film and discuss the book. Pizza and pop will be provided.  For teens, grades 7-12.

Video Game/ Anime Club
Thursday, Oct. 2

3:00-5:00 pm

Join this combined activity club to enjoy playing video games and participating in anime activities. 

Breadstick Tasting
Wednesday, Oct. 8
4-5 pm
Come judge breadsticks from around town for presentation and taste. Then test your
breadstick tasting skills by guessing where they came from. 

Teen Writing Room
Tuesday, Oct. 21
7:00-8:30 pm

Come to learn how to write an essay from selecting a subject all the way to formatting it for submission.  Follow the steps to writing success!  Afterwards, we will play a game of jeopardy just for fun.

Halloween Lock-in
Friday, Oct. 24

6-9 pm

Join us afterhours for movies, games, snacks, and costume contest. For grades 4-12 and a permission slip must be turned in.

Drop-in Cookie Decorating
Wednesday, Oct. 29
3:00-5:00 pm
Children and Teens in grades K-12 may drop-in anytime from 3:00-5:00 pm to enjoy a fun, friendly time decorating fresh cookies. Cookies will be provided along with scrumptious toppings. Participants will be free to use creativity and imagination. Prepare to decorate!  

Zombie Walk
Friday, Oct. 31
6-8 pm
Those who wish to dress as zombies may participate in the Ortonville Zombie Walk to be stationed around town to greet passing trick-or-treaters.   Contact Alexa at the Brandon Library for more information and register today!

Volunteers are needed to make Halloween decorations to put up around town.  We will be meeting at the Old Town Hall, Sunday, Oct. 5, at 2pm.

2nd Annual
Teen Battle of the Books Orientation
Monday, Nov. 10

The orientation is for teams to meet, to register, and to receive the rules. 

This year’s books will include Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytales, Grimm’s fairytales, Edith Hamilton’s Mythology, and Golden by Cameron Dokey.

“Write, wrote, written” Join our Teen Writing Room. We’ll explore different kinds of writing based on member choices, from poems and essays to drama and humor and beyond. We’ll build expression skills and develop ideas. We’ll also create our writing books.

We have DIY projects with smart phone projectors, smart phone gloves and floppy disk ships and notebooks.

Teen Hunger Games/Catching Fire Lock-in

Bring a friend and watch the movies from the popular series, “Hunger Games.”  This event is for grades 7-12 and a permission slip must be turned in.
